BLAZE BASEBALL NABF COLLEGE WORLD SERIES-Quarter Finals: Wow. DOWN 2-1 going into the 9th inning against Muskegon Michigan Clippers AND being no-hit by a U of M pitcher. We rallied for 3 runs on 3 hits in the 9th, highlighted by a 2-out, 2-run single by Marcus Bobb to WIN 4-2. We move to semifinal round!! Brendon Borkey went 4-innings giving up 2 runs in the 1st inning. Tyler Lautanen threw scoreless 5-7, Joe Borkey threw scoreless 8th with 2k's and Nick Buckingham picked up the win with a scoreless 9th. John Royce brokeup the no-hitter with a single to center to start the 9th. TJ Lett followed with a bunt single for 1st and 2nd no out. Dan Walters grounded into a force at third. Bryant Kennedy pinch hit and walked to load the bases. Tom Mulig struck out. Seth Velucci walked on a full count to tie the games coring Royce. Marcus Bobb then lined the first pitch to right center to score Let and Walters, GO BLAZE #blazeup #blazefam @blaze22u.
NABF College World Series Update: After losing game #2 on Thursday 3-1 to the Indiana Bandits, Blaze baseball bounced back and beat Long Island Astros 5-1 Friday morning. The Astros, who beat Indiana Bandits Thursday nite, were stifled by starting pitcher Jay Milo who threw 5-innings of 1-run ball for the win. Nick Buckingham threw a 1-hit shutout over the last 4 innings and the Blaze comes out of pool play as the #1 seed. Tied 1-1 in the top of the 6th, Joe Caporale hit an opposite field 2-run -2 out single to put Blaze up 3-1. In the 9th, Seth Velucci hit a 2-out double to score Tyson Lautanen from first base and later scored on a single by AJ Strnad.
NABF 22u College World Series Game 1: Blaze Baseball 4. Michigan Bulls 2. Behind Ryan Lally and 8 innings of 1 run ball, Blaze starts tourney on good note. A 4-run 8th inning higlighted by Rbi singles from Tyson Lautanen, Mike Capel and Chance Retino put the Blaze ahead to stay. Brendon Borkey came on to pitch the 9th and get the save. BLAZE 22U BLACK- came back to beat the Cleveland Sox 9-4 in Diamodn League Championship play. The game featured the 22u Division Champ Blaze Black and the LEBL (Unlimited) DIvision Cleveland sox who beat Blaze earlier in teh year 5-2 and 10-0. behind powerful pitching by Ryan Lally, Tyler Kennedy, Jay Mlo, Brendon Borkey and Joe Borkey, Blaze pitchers held the Sox to 6 hits overall and struck out 9. Big stick for Blaze was TJ Letts 3-run HR to Right Center in the 6th inning to pull the Blaze to 6-2 score at the time.
Going 15-3 in the inaugural Diamond League College Division, Blazed Baseball swept through the intra-division schedule with a perfect record. The only losses were during inter-division games against the LEBL (unlimited) division where they were 7-3. Congrats guys!
JUNE 8 2016- Blaze Black wins 10-0 over the E 80 Iron Pigs @ryanlally7 threw one hit shutout ball over 4 innings and Tyler Kennedy threw 2-shutout innings in the inning-shortened game. Offensively @walters_dan lead the charge with a 3-run HR in the 3rd inning. The Blaze jumped out early and staked Lally to a 4-0 lead after one inning with the usual barrage of timely hits and aggressive baserunning...#Blaze
JUNE 4, 2016- In game one of Saturdays Split DH vs Columbus Braves, the Blaze Black -22u (1-0) took an early lead and cruised to a 18-0 whitewashing of the Columbus Braves. TJ Let and Luke Capel both had 3-run Hr's for the Blaze while Brendon Borkey, Ryan Lally, Jay Milo, and Joe Borkey combined to throw 2-hit shutout ball.
In Game 2, the Blaze White- Unlimited team (2-0-1) held a 5-1 lead going into the 5th inning lead by the crisp pitching of Nick Buckingham and Mike Martin. The White fell behind 7-5 in the 6th, but battled back to tie the game 7-7 as time expired.
Blaze-White will be back at it on Monday with a cross-division DH vs Rebels Baseball at Victory Park #7 at 6:15 and 8:30pm
Blaze Black will be back 6pm Wednesday with a single game Diamond League divisional contest vs E80 IronPigs at Lake Catholic.
